Workshops for children Workshops for adults Labs Creative Recycling Plant
School Project "A Seed of the Future"
Laboratory of knowledge and processing on semi
Presentazione
The project working on the seeds will develop a manual approach and theoretical aspects of knowledge about the world of plants and craft techniques with which you can reinterpret it. Inside the school planning area can be integrated educational and artistic expression, scientific and technical.
Participants will be actively involved in several areas:
- cognitive, compared to the recognition of plant species used and the life cycle of plants;
- practical, than the various stages of processing (grinding, plant dyes ,
polishing, drilling, assembly and production of natural jewelry)
- relational and educational, participatory and cooperative approach with respect to the maturation of environmental awareness related to issues of biodiversity and recycling.
Recipients
pupils of primary and secondary school 1st grade, community centers and
educational associations.
Goals - understand and recognize the plant species used and their life cycle;
- gain practical skills related a simple processing techniques;
- create an object with the skills acquired recycling plant;
- learn to work cooperatively in groups and respectful;
- mature environmental awareness related to issues of biodiversity and recycling.
Methodologies
- interactive teaching
- iconic and multi-sensory stimulation (pictures, images, direct manipulation of seeds)
Tools
bike - modified belt, pulley, pivot and bevel plate
abrasive
- vegetable dyes
- Tools for drilling the seed
- Photographs and pictures
Phases / timing
The workshop is structured as a course of 2 days, 3 hours each.
modulation time of the project is sensitive to change depending on the number of participants and may be modified to meet specific needs in particular will be possible to broaden the spectrum of action based on a particular interest or curiosity.
day 1:
Introduction: a few words will be spent on knowledge of the vegetation, biodiversity, recycling within the craft and to the species that will be used in the laboratory; in particular, the Palms will be considered as a progenitor plant (dwarf palm: the only wild in Italy, Canary Island date palm, Sabal Palm and Palm Chinese). Also you can see and touch the seeds in various stages of processing that participants face in the laboratory.
Cleanliness skins: the cleaning of the skin is to remove the part which is the fruit pulp of the palm trees in particular will be implemented to mechanically peel the seeds of the Canary Island date palm and Sabal, while those of Trachycarpus have to 'suffer' treatment soaking and riessicazione (the next day we will proceed to the cleaning of the skins is that smoothing) Finally, the dates of Palma Nana will be peeled by hand as impossible any attempt at cleaning.
Smoothing seeds : using modified bicycle with a belt, pulley, pivot to
bevel plate and abrasive that will made to use the teachers (or parents) who will interact directly in the laboratory at this stage of processing.
dyes on the seeds: the seeds are all dyed using vegetable dyes by
brewing process and etching rock alum and vinegar.
2 nd day:
etching on semi : locked in the grip some seeds will be engraved with simple files of various sizes
Composing jewel : with semi-finished products will be implemented to bucarli one by one (the proceedings will not be taught to children but which will provide a practical demonstration) and the assembly of a necklace, pendant, bracelet, depending on demand.
